Daniel is an attractive, intelligent, fun-loving guy. However, the month of June puts Daniel in an increasingly unattractive light. Daniel shows himself to be selfish, vain, neglectful, and critical. He finally agrees to take a vacation with Bridget, refuses to help her plan the trip, and then criticizes her efforts. The reader meets one of Daniel's past sexual conquests and begins to understand that intimate relationships are meaningless to him.
