Who is Betty the Skunk from Brian's Winter?

Betty the Skunk is an actual skunk and named after Brian's aunt. Betty lives under a rock at Brian's campsite and threatens to spray him every morning. In order to save himself from being sprayed, Brian feeds her. During the course of their time together, Betty saves Brian's life. When a bear appears, hoping to steal Brian's deer meat, Betty appears ad sprays it in the face.
