Why does Maggie want Leroy to live with them?

The schools in Maggie's neighborhood are better than that of Fiona's. Maggie also wants to be able to have her granddaughter in her life and be apart of her life to some extent. Maggie does not think Fiona will get proper schooling where she currently lives, Again, she wishes to intercede where it is not her place to help.
