There is constant propaganda in BNW. The cute sayings and quips are meant to reinforce the ideology of the party. Consider:
"you do look glum! What you need is a gramme of soma."
"..there is always soma, delicious soma, half a gramme for a half-holiday, a gramme for a week-end, two grammes for a trip to the gorgeous East, three for a dark eternity on the moon..."
"Never put of till tomorrow the fun you can have today."
