Freeman Books is very similar to Goode Books and inspires Libby and Nora’s reinvention of the small-town store. Nora frequently attributes her love of books and critical review skills to the time she and her family spent living in an apartment over Freeman Books. She and Libby even have a yearly tradition where they return to the bookstore on December 12th at noon every year, honoring their memories of their mother who always took them. At the end of the novel, Nora returns to Freeman Books to continue this tradition, and this is where she runs back into Charlie and begins a new relationship.
