Nora and Libby spent much of their life in New York, and Nora looks back on it very fondly. She often describes it as a place of dreams and endless opportunity, even appreciating being one of the millions that live there. Libby, on the other hand, sees New York as stifling and wants to move somewhere new and quieter for her family to settle down. This irreconcilable difference is why Nora and Libby ultimately decide that they will both be happier if Nora returns to New York while Libby moves to Sunshine Falls.
