Who is Warren from Blood of the Fold and what is their importance?

Warren spent most of his life studying at the Palace of the Prophets, and is the only person that Verna truly trusts. Verna and Warren had an argument, after which Warren disappears. Verna is informed that Warren left because of what was said. Verna however, later discovers that Warren has been taken prisoner.
