One main theme in the novel, Blood Meridian, or the Evening Redness in the West, is that of the value of life. In essence, the number of characters who are mistreated and vivciously murdered, in addition to those who are massacred, leads us to question the characters' lack of self-dignity, as well as their moral compass, which includes their disrespect for human life.
