Need more context on “The Kiss” portion of the novel

“The Kiss” describes Norma Jeane’s first memories of her mother taking her to see a movie at Grauman’s Egyptian Theatre. Norma Jeane watched other movies throughout her life and identified the rudiments of movies: A Dark Prince, A Fair Princess, and A Kiss at the conclusion of the movie. As an adult, Norma Jeane began to understand that the Fair Princess was “doomed” (10) to seek confirmation and acceptance from other people. At the end of this section, Norma Jeane is pictured watching a movie alone in a theater when the Dark Prince comes to claim her. From the text, we can infer that Norma Jeane saw herself as the Fair Princess.
