How important is prayer for Antonio's mother?

Since she was raised a devout Catholic, Antonio's mother fervently believes that God will reward and comfort those who follow the faith. After supper, the family enters the sala (living room) and prays the rosary with Antonio's mother reciting the Our Father and Hail Mary's. They pray that Antonio's brother will be delivered from harm and will soon be returning home.
