Describe the sights and sounds of harvest time in El Puerto.

Brilliant red and bright green chili peppers were tied to coloful ristras. Apples were dried in the sun on rooftops while others were cooked into jellies and jam. Some apples were baked with cinnamon and sugar. When harvesting was done for the day, everybody sat around eating the delicious apple concoctions and telling stories.
