Valerie Pomeroy is in her 70s. She is a widow and originally from India. She lives on the other side of Claudia. Ever since her husband died, Valerie is known to drink until she is drunk. Claudia first meets Valerie when Claudia hears glass breaking in Valerie's house. Claudia finds Valerie passed out drunk on the floor bleeding. Valerie and Claudia become good friends after Valerie befriends Claudia's son, Jerome, when he is recovering from an accident.
