What are Pressing Palms?

In Issue 11, the spirits of warriors from Wakanda's past press palms with the warriors from its present as they depart from the living world, symbolizing the intrinsic, yet subtle, connection all people in the present hold with what came before them. The action of pressing palms is an accurate representation of what the connection to the past should be: hold the past with deference but not let it dictate your actions dogmatically. There is a balance between firmly upholding traditions and completely upending the status quo. The warriors of today press palms with their predecessors and maintain firm eye contact, symbolizing their recognition of what they can learn from that but also holding them at enough of a distance to make their own decisions.
