In the poem, Birches, by Robert Frost, the motif of the birch tree being bent low to the ground is the recurring motif. He allows his imagination to play around with how the birch trees came to be bent to the ground..whether it was an ice storm, snow, an overly playful and bored farm boy, or if it were from grief. Regardless of the musings, the motif that happens throughout the entire poem is that of the birch trees being bent almost to the point where one would think they would snap...but they never do. This motif of resilience and tenacity ties in with the overall themes presented.
