Describe symbolism in The Bhagavad Gita

The conch represents a call to war. This is a shell used as a noise making device in war. It is used to deliver messages of fear to the enemy and of inspiration and direction to those in one's army. It comes up in the very first chapter of the book and appears later in the story.
