This book is written by two of Lillian's children. They wrote from their own experiences as well as those of their siblings.
The Foreword is written in third person. It's a formal introduction to the book. As the main part of the book begins, the story switches to third person with a personal perspective, highlighting the story from the children's point-of-view. The language is simple to read, yet has enough of a variety in vocabulary that it can expand a reader's vocabulary. The more complex words are used in context so a reader can easily understand what is going on and what the authors are trying to say.
