Who is Claude in Beautiful Losers by Leonard Cohen?

Like Pierre, Claude is a Jesuit priest at the Mission Saint-Louis and enamored with the stunning Catherine Tekakwitha. Claude and Pierre do their best to end Catherine's self punishment which includes starvation and self-flagellation. After her death, Claude spends most of his time painting her likeness.
