Anita sees the governor's son sitting on the grass. She remembers that he has some mysterious disease that leaves him with open wounds and pain. She finds that he is looking at her. She finds herself moving toward him and she sees forgiveness in his eyes. She begins to cry and ends up with her cheek against his bare foot, with her hair falling all around.
