Kelsang relates to Kyoshi how Yun was identified as the Avatar. He and Jianzhu had come upon the boy playing Pai Sho in a manner exactly like Kuruk, the previous Avatar. They assumed from the strategies that he was Kuruk reincarnated—thus, the Avatar.
