Wendy tells Elisabeth that charity boxes used to be carried by real dogs who worked going around places like railway stations with boxes hung round their necks for people to put pennies into for charity. Later some of the dogs were stuffed and set in place with charity boxes. Eventually the charity boxes were places with different statues outside stores and in stations.
