Was it wise for Elisha to pursue truth regardless of the consequences?

Elisha could have exercised more restraint in his pursuit of truth. His complete disregard for consequence caused quite a lot of pain in his life. This is not to say that he should not have chased his dream. With more patience and consideration, he could have avoided some of the more treacherous pitfalls he encountered in his life.
