In Part One, Chapter X, does Elisha seem happy? Why?

Elisha has a good career and good friends, but that is not where he finds happiness. Elisha does seem happy, but that is only because his life appears to be going well. He is having serious doubts about the path he has chosen for his life despite the fact that he is excelling at it.
