What is the author's style in Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer?

The language used in the book is simple and easy to understand. There is some "pg-rated" language and violence. The book is geared toward younger readers and as such, is written in a fast paced and in an easy-to-read format. With half of the characters as fairies, Colfer creates various fairy words and technologies, but he explains these well.
