How is the translation of the Book a challenge for Artemis?

Translating the book is harder than Artemis expects. The computer keeps coming up blank. In frustration, Artemis makes hard copies of the pages and examines them. He realizes that some of the symbols in the Book are similar to Egyptian hieroglyphics.
