How does Root plan on using Mulch?

Root plans on making a deal with Mulch. Root wants Mulch to dig his way into Fowl Manor and find out what is going on in there. He wants Mulch to find out how Artemis knows so much about fairies. Then he wants Mulch to destroy whatever device Artemis is using to find out his information. Next, Root wants Mulch to find Holly and do for her whatever he can or, at least, tell Root that Holly is already dead. Mulch does not like the set up but tries to bargain for amnesty. Root doesn't go for the deal, but he does give Mulch a reduced sentence.
