Father of Chloe and grandfather of Kenny, Rayford is the acknowledged leader of the Tribulation Force. Rayford is a strong man who is dedicated to his family and friends and puts them second only to God. Rayford seeks God's will in all his actions and studies a great deal in order to determine what he's supposed to be doing in the various situations. Rayford's kindness is seen in his reaction to the people who are hurting when he first lands in Babylon. Rayford wants desperately to help them all. Without the ability to help everyone, he wants to help at least one of them and puts himself in danger in his effort to get food for a woman. Rayford feels uncomfortable in his role of leader when faced with strong, learned men such as Tsion. This humble aspect of Rayford's nature makes others look up to him almost as much as his natural leadership ability. Rayford is thrown from his ATV when a bomb hits nearby and dies as a result of his injuries.
