Anne and Peter have started 'dating'. They both dress nicely and Anne visits Peter in his bedroom. The fact that she's going into his bedroom upsets Anne's mother. She believes that it is inappropriate. Mrs. Van Daan teases Peter about Anne and indicates that Anne is a girl of loose morals (that there will be wedding soon if they aren't careful).
