What irony can be found in Fadia's relationship with Abdallah in the novel, An Unnecessary Woman?

Abdallah is the man that Fadia’s father had arranged for her to marry. She refused to marry him, however, citing that she wanted to marry for love. Ironically, Fadia married the man she believed she loved, and then she wound up having an affair with Abdallah.
