Who is Alia from Among the Enemy and what is their importance?

Alia is present in the school with Matthias and Percy when they are taken by the Population Police. When Matthias and Percy escape, Alia is injured and believed dead. She is actually rescued by Mrs. Talbot, and when Matthias returns, he finds her there.
