Why is Oliver angry with Dr. Curls in the novel, Althea & Oliver?

Dr. Curls is the physician in charge of the Kleine-Levin study at St. Victor's hospital in New York City. He has good intentions with the study, but Oliver is angry with him because he can't provide a cure for the syndrome.
