Both Althea and Oliver end up in New York, he for the medical study at the hospital and she came to apologize to him and ends up staying with some bohemian friends she finds. Oliver goes to New York hoping to find a solution to his sleep problem and ultimately heads back home at the end of the novel not really finding one.
