Valerie Jamison from Almost Heaven is the 'mean' girl in this saga. Robert arranges with her to assist him with Elizabeth's coming out party. Unknown to him, Valerie is jealous of Elizabeth and believes that if her reputation were sullied that there would be more eligible bachelors on the market for the rest of them. She conspires to create the circumstances that allow for Elizabeth and Ian to be caught in a lovers embrace, thus setting everything into motion.
