Lord John Marchman and Sir Francis Belhaven from Almost Heaven are two of the three suitors who respond when the Uncle sends out a letter to former suitors offering Elizabeth's hand. Marchman is an avid fisherman and agrees to turn Elizabeth down (at her request) as long as Belhaven does. Belhaven is a letch. He is also cheap. Elizabeth knows his proclivities and tells him that she has found religion and that sex is odious. He quickly sends her away.
