Lady Elizabeth Cameron from Almost Heaven is the only daughter and survivor of her late parents, the Earl and Duchess of Cameron. Elizabeth inherits his title, the estate, the money.....and her father's gambling debts. Her half brother, Robert, attempts to take care of her, but he also has a gambling debt. He thinks that he can build up the family fortunes again by making a good marriage for Elizabeth. However, when Elizabeth falls for a boy at a weekend party, and is found in a compromising situation with him in the woods, her reputation is ruined and the chance for a good match is done. Elizabeth has a strength of character and intelligence that was not favored in the Victorian era, but nonetheless manages to end up with the man that she loves.
