Evangelina Becks is a tomboy who doesn't care much about clothing and fashion, but she dresses well thanks to Mac's constant guidance. She is not as fiercely ambitious as her friends, preferring a more laid-back lifestyle at the beach. She is also quicker to see the good in the students who are not members of the Inner Circle, primarily Ellie, a girl she falsely befriends as part of the group's plan for revenge for their social downfall. However, even though she begins to like Ellie, she quickly turns on her again when it becomes clear that Ellie also likes Austin and intends to attract his attention by becoming a surfer. In the end, she tries to save Ellie from harm but her earlier scheme causes the girl to nearly drown during a surfing demonstration, leading Austin to rescue her and lose respect for Becks.
