What do Mom and Granny both love in the novel, Almond?

Though Yunjae says Mom and Granny are very different from one another, the one thing they have in common is their love for plum candies. On the day of the attack, Yunjae waits for the waiter to give him handfuls of the treats so he can give them as a token to Granny and Mom.
