What is the importance of Chicago in the novel, Allegiant?

Chicago is where the first two books take place in the Divergent series. Chicago is fenced in, letting the imagination wonder as to what is outside. In Allegiant, Tris and the others break out and are introduced into the outside world, in a post-apocalyptic reality check.
