Weapons play a central figure in all of the series, but in particular represent raw primal power. At first, Tris falls in love with the power that a gun gives her. Considering that she’s spent most of her childhood feeling powerless, the feel of a gun is a pretty heady thing. Later, however, she realizes that guns don’t equal power, and in the end, it is love that is the most powerful weapon of them all.
