How does Morley Callaghan use imagery in All the Years of Her Life?

In the final line of the story, "It seemed to him that this was the first time he had ever looked upon his mother", the author provides us with descriptive imagery that moves us to feel the things that Alfred is feeling. His mother's trembling hand holding the teacup.... Alfred's epiphany..... and the knowledge that at this moment, his character is completely transformed.
