Why does Daniel seek out Brandon in the novel, All the Water I’ve Seen Is Running?

When Daniel hears about Aubrey's death, he decides that he must speak to Brandon. Although all of Daniel's friends think he wants revenge against Brandon for killing Aubrey in the accident, Daniel insists that he wants to talk to Brandon because Brandon is the only one who could possibly understand what he is feeling.
