The climactic final scene in the novel takes place at Royce Lazare’s home. Late in the narrative, Titus determines that Royce (previously known as Gabriel) is the Last Wolf. He enters Royce’s home and finds that it is a clean, orderly space; he notices that there are no photographs on the walls, thus signaling Royce’s isolation and insularity. Eventually, Titus follows Royce to a secret underground bunker in the backyard. He immediately recognizes the bunker as the space in which Royce and Spearman tortured and killed multiple children. In the bunker, Titus manages to stab and kill Royce.
