Why is Red upset with her mother during their visit to the aquarium in the novel, All the Impossible Things?

The first unsupervised trip Red and Wanda take is to the Aquarium. Red’s mom is not very present as she spends much of the time texting. Eventually, the two meet up with Ricky which really upsets Red. Wanda and Red have lunch with Ricky, who works at the Aquarium, at the Aquarium restaurant, and Red makes her mom uncomfortable by talking about foster care, Celine’s cancer, and Gamma’s cancer.
