Hôtel Lutetia is a hotel in Paris known for its history in the Holocaust. As proof that Stephen was working with the Nazis, Fontaine shows Armand a picture of Stephen taken with Himmler in this hotel. She argues that Stephen was not working with the Resistance as he claimed to have been. Armand notes that after Jews were liberated from the concentration camps, they were brought to the Hôtel Lutetia in what was a misguided kindness. He believed the people were further traumatized by the contrast between the conditions in which they had survived and the ones in which their Nazi tormentors had lived.
