Egypt, which is still a famous nation, was one of the dominant in the region during the time the scriptures span. Egypt and the ruling Pharaohs are viewed in relation to the Hebrews during this book. There are times when Jews go to Egypt because it is safer there. At other times, Jews flee Egypt because of how dangerous it is there. Who is governing Egypt and what the laws are like relative to Hebrews are evidently pertinent.
