For the most part, All This Could Be Different employs a style of prose that is fast-paced and easily digestible but also occasionally loaded with some more verbose language. This style allows Mathews to preserve the accessibility of the text while also communicating both the intellect and education of her protagonist, Sneha, who also serves as the novel's first-person narrator. As a further acknowledgement of Sneha's style of speech (and as a means of elevating Sneha's cultural background), Mathews also declines to translate or explain a number of non-English terms relevant to Sneha's childhood in India.
