In Part III, Mary Lawton begins to really worry about Catherine Clare when she sees George Clare with Willis Howard and realizes he is having an affair. Mary Lawton also worries when she drops something off for Catherine and hears a cry from inside, and then George answers the door and tells Mary that Catherine is indisposed.
