Helen buys the novel, A Tale of Two Cities, for Isaac to illustrate to him that he is called "Dickens" around the office because he speaks perfect English. This is also a symbol of the story between Isaac and the narrator as Isaac gives him his whole identity so that the narrator can escape from Uganda.
