Abraham Lincoln was the President of the United States of America during the time of the Civil War in the late 1800's. "Honest Abe," as he is referred to by many historians and by the author, had - and still has - a reputation of integrity, and of fighting to liberate the many black slaves brought to America from Africa. The author, however, cites research that reveals his actual perspectives on slavery, which were more about perpetuating the slave state than they were about freeing them.
