G.G. is the author's older half-brother; they share the same father, but have different mothers. They also share the same sexual orientation, the author describing how, at one point, he learned that G.G. was also queer. The author also describes learning of how difficult G.G.'s relationship with their father was, with the latter seeming to have no real idea how to relate to a queer son. Eventually G.G. reconciled with his father who, as the author portrays him, developed a better sense of how to interact with both his queer children as a result.
