How did the survivors initially cope with their ordeal?

Initially, the survivors had high hopes of being rescued quickly. They banded together to assist those in need and worked as a group to stay warm in the freezing temperatures. The survivors had faith that their loved ones wouldn't top searching...... as a group they practiced their faith through reciting the rosary, they prayed silently, they prayed alone, and they prayed together.
